Invasion of Ukraine as a cause for World Food Crisis

The Russian Foreign Ministry recently issued a statement blaming the Western powers for the existing food crisis.

According to the head of Russian MFA Sergei Lavrov, the Western powers are to be blamed for existing food shortages across the Global South and that Russia is doing everything in its power to prevent this crisis from developing further.

Our community reminds the Russian officials that it was them who blocked the Black Sea ports and invaded Ukraine that resulted in the latter stopping exporting grain to the countries of the Global South (such as Egypt and Sahelian countries) that heavily rely on them. These atrocious actions are the main causes of the food crisis, not blunt colonial past of the Western states.
