About us
“Caspian Initiative for European Integration & Partnership” is a regional youth organisation based in Brussels that aims at contributing integration of young people of the Caspian Sea region and “Eastern Partnership” countries in Europe and strengthening partnerships with the EU. Although it is a newly established organisation, CIEIP has already more than 100 young members who are involved in its projects. Its main goal is to bring the youth of targeted countries together and to improve integration to the basic European values through their initiatives. The organisation is the common platform of young people, no matter they are students or young professionals, and it supports its members to access to main EU institutions and international organisations. It represents not only young people from the Caspian Sea region, but also it is a common platform for all European youth who intent to contribute main activities of the organisation.
Moreover, increasing the youth participation in political, economic and social spheres, educating them through trainings in various topics, supporting vulnerable youth groups, introducing to them the main principles of EU institutions in the field of youth policy are also included in its activity directions. One of the fundamental goals in establishing CIEIP is to contribute peacebuilding process at local and regional levels, specifically in post-Soviet contested regions. Therefore, introducing peace message in Europe through youth projects is also integral part of its activities. Hence, the target group in activities of the organisation is also the youth who have suffered from wars, conflicts in their home countries. CIEIP gives an opportunity for them to realize their events and make their peaceful voice heard in peacebuilding process.
As it is mentioned above, one of its main goals is to contribute the peacebuilding process by increasing youth participation and helping disadvantaged groups (youth) whose community has faced conflicts and wars. Specifically, it can be noted as an example that, during the last one year, after the end of the war between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the South Caucasus region, the organisation has implemented significantly important work in the topics of peacebuilding process in post-conflict period. Last year, by the initiative of the organisation a large-scale Discussion Forum on “Peacebuilding perspectives in the South Caucasus in the context of post-conflict relations” has been held with participation of about 100 people, including European politicians (MEP’s from the European Parliament), young researchers, journalists and students. Furthermore, the international conference on “Global conflicts and their peacebuilding prospects” with participation of young people from different communities, the publication of research papers on “Nagorno-Karabakh” conflict and academic articles in leading European newspapers have been organized within its activity. All these can be cited as examples that shows the CIEIP’s unique intention for personal and professional developments of the youth. Improving the participation of the youth, making opportunities for them to impact on socio-political processes, the development of cooperation and integration among them are the main goals of the organisation.
